Moto GP

For years, bwin has been a close partner of the MotoGP Class, the highest prototype racing class in the Motorcycle World Championships. In 2010, bwin is the title sponsor of the World Championship events in Jerez and Estoril.

The riders were flagged by the bwin logo from the starting grid to the winner’s ceremony on the podium in both Spain and Portugal. In addition, there was a bwin corner and a bwin bridge as part of the company’s sponsoring activities at the races in Brno (Czech Republic) and Misano (Italy).

Cubic giants on two wheels have been known as MotoGP since 2002. Previously the supreme discipline of motorcycle sports was called the 500cc Class. The circuits have a long tradition and have been held by the FIM since as early as 1949.

From the beginning of the new millennium, it has been an Italian name once again at the top of the list: Valentino Rossi, better known as “Il Dottore”. He took the MotoGP title five times in a row from 2001 to 2005. In 2006, he was succeeded by American Nicky Hayden, followed by the highly-talented Australian, Casey Stoner, one year later. Two years proved to be long enough as Rossi’s intermezzo period, after which he returned again in 2008 and 2009, taking the title on both occasions with races to spare. The “Doctor” will be back again in 2010 and will certainly be the man to beat.
