Club Brugge
Since July 2006, bwin has been official sponsor and betting partner of the Belgian football club, Club Brugge. bwin advertises using rotating boards at all games played in the Jan Breydel stadium and is also represented on the club’s website, www.clubbrugge.be.
In addition, we exclusively present each year’s season opener, the “Brugse Metten Match”. At the season opening celebrations, the fans not only get a top class match to watch, but there is also a comprehensive entertainment programme which we also help to organise.
Club Brugge KV, as the club is called in Dutch, was founded in 1891 and is one of the oldest football clubs in Belgium. The team rose to the nation’s top flight at the end of the 50s, but it was under legendary Austrian trainer Ernst Happel in the 70s that the club celebrated is greatest successes – twice-finalists of the European Cup and three-time national champions.
To date, FC Brugge has been Belgian national champion 13 times (most recently in 2005) and has won the national cup 10 times (most recently in 2007). The “Koninklijke Voetbalvereniging” (KV) has also qualified for the Champions League four times.
Among the most famous wearers of the blue and black jersey are five-time world cup player Franky van der Elst, Belgium’s record-breaking national player Jan Ceulemans, Frenchman Jean-Pierre Papin and Croatian title-winner Mario Stanic.
