For automobile manufacturers WTCC is the perfect platform for premiering their latest models. BMW, Alfa Romeo, Chevrolet, Seat, Peugeot, Honda and Toyota vie for victory and points. Drivers and teams have to respond to the extra pressures of two races in one day. The engines of these mean machines weighing 1140 kg must last for four races and the strict regulations allow drivers no mistake. Old hands include Alex Zanardi, Nicola Larini or Gianni Morbidelli, who all started out their career in Formula 1. The Britton Andy Priaulx however clinched the world champion title for 2006.
